About this product

Transparent Practice Padlock – Cutaway Pin Tumbler (Small, Large or Euro Cylinder)

Practice Lock · Lockpit Kit

The transparent practice padlock everyone starts on. Clear acrylic body, brass pins and springs, two keys — insert the key and watch the pins line up on the shear line, then rake it open and see exactly why it worked. Three versions: small padlock, large padlock, or the transparent Euro cylinder.

What's included in the transparent practice padlock

  • Small: 5-pin padlock, approx. 65 × 40 mm
  • Large: 5-pin padlock, approx. 80 × 50 mm
  • Euro cylinder: transparent half cylinder, the profile on most European doors
  • 2 keys with each lock

Who the transparent practice padlock is for

Every beginner. Buy the small or large padlock with your first pick set; add the Euro cylinder when you want to practise the lock that is actually on your door.

Transparent practice padlock — specifications

  • Acrylic body, brass pins
  • Standard pins, loose tolerances by design
  • Demonstration lock — not for securing anything

Belt level for the transparent practice padlock

White belt. When it feels easy, move to a cutaway lock with real tolerances. See the full lock picking belt ranking to plan your next lock.

Legal note: lock picks are legal to own and use on locks you own in nearly all of Europe. Read our legality by country page. Only pick locks you own, never a lock in use. New to the hobby? Start with how to pick a lock for beginners.

Basic practice lock, feels somewhat lightweight and fragile

Basic practice lock, feels somewhat lightweight and fragile. But works well enough and pins are clearly visible

Great

Great. Pretty much as expected for the price point. Lock mechanism is encased in plastic. Shows how the lock works. Great for kids to understand how locks work. It’s also a different key/combo than the big 36 pc set. I was worried they’d be the same.

FAQ

Lock picking questions before you order

The questions we get most from first-time buyers.

Is it legal to buy lock picks in my country?

Owning lock picks for hobby use is legal in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Poland, Czechia and the Nordic countries; the UK restricts carrying them in public. We only ship where the hobby is legal — see legality by country.

Do I need a practice lock with a lock pick set?

Yes if you are a beginner. A transparent padlock lets you see the pins set while you feel it — the fastest way to learn. Most of our kits include one.

How long does shipping take?

Orders ship with tracking and arrive in 7 to 14 days across the EU, Norway, Switzerland and the UK. You receive the tracking link by email.

Which belt level is this product?

Every practice lock and kit page has a Belt level section in the description. White belt means any beginner can open it; yellow and above need single pin picking. Full ladder: belt ranking.
